After weeks of online tease, H&M has finally released the full lookbook for it’s latest high-end designer collaboration with Balmain. To say that we are excited for this collaboration is an understatement! The lookbook is a delectable morsel of what we’ve been waiting for after hearing of the collaboration: affordable opulence.
The collection is mostly comprised of the house’s signature looks – exaggerated shoulders, voluminous bottoms, and plenty of embellishments – with touches of Balmain’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing’s gritty downtown vibe. Some of the women’s wear line features sparkly sheaths with handcrafted beadwork, billowy saint trousers, and brocade mini dresses. For the men there are moto inspired bomber jackets, joggers, and utilitarian chic blazers with large gold brass buttons. Both the male and female collections are rich in basically everything, as Rousteing declares: “ It (the Balmain collection for H&M) is sharp, rich in detail and full of effortless attitude.”
The collection is set to drop at selected H&M stores and H&M online from November 5, and by the looks of things, it is the Balmain we know and love. With no minimalism in sight, these pieces are textured, patterned, and extravagantly ornate.
